Booster Club Meeting Minutes – January 9, 2017

Susan Fraser opened the meeting at 7:04pm.

President's Report – MLK Basketball tournament is Sunday and Monday this weekend.  May need additional concession help, will send out email if necessary.

Winter Sports Awards –  Thursday, March 2

Booster Bash – March 4

Treasurer’s Report – Income is up, concession stand up due to good football season, cash flow is higher because Wish List items have not been submitted for payment by the Athletic Department.

Membership Report  - A few new memberships for winter sports families.

SpartanWear Report – The in school sale before break was a success, three quarters of inventory was unloaded.  Freshman orientation Thursday, February 9 is the next sale night, rolling out a new t-shirt.  Sweat pants back in and Spartan Wear orders have been placed for book sale 2017.

Yard Sign Report – Price increase on the website for non-members. Susan to check with Robin about non-member versus member pricing.  Updated yard sign form will be sent to Robin.

Concessions –  May need help for MLK tournament. TBD

Booster Bash – Things are moving along, pace picking up as the March 4 event approaches. Emails to be sent to fall and winter reps and last year spring team reps, promoting the event. Donation letters will also be distributed. The committee is soliciting donations from local businesses, as well as team baskets. Distributed master list of Northbrook shopping malls for solicitation. Winter team rep basketball deadline is January 19. The staff in the Athletic department is working on a press release for Northbrook Star and Tower and Suzanne is asking for local press photographers to come to event.

Varsity Boys Basketball – 6 -8,

JV Boys Basketball -  1-2

Sophomore Basketball – 7-3, doing fine, coach doing well with allocating playing time with a large team.

Boys Freshman A Basektball- 5-8, team won two games in a row before Winter Break.

Boys Freshman B Basketball –  10-3, pasta party on Thursday, January 12

Girls Varsity Basketball – 6-10 St. Viator tournament won two games, lost two games.

JV Girls Basketball –  6-5, pasta party on Friday, January 20

Freshman A Girls Basketball – 8-4, pizza party on Wednesday, Thursday third pasta party.

Varsity Cheerleading – Varsity placed 5 out of 7 teams at the Stevenson tournament.

JV Cheerleading– Last competition at Stevenson placed 5 out of 12 teams.  Wednesday is a conference meet at Maine South. Competition on Saturday.

Freshman Cheerleading – participated in an all level cheer pizza party.

Varsity Gymnastics –  1st place in Conference with two more conference matches. Placed 3 out of 9 teams at the Spartan Classic Invite

JV Gymnastics 3-1

Freshman Gymnastics- 2-2 in Duals

Boys Varsity Bowling – Varsity 14-3, Regular season CSL Champs, Conference Co-Champions, 4 of the 5 varsity bowlers placed in the top 12 in the Conference.  Senior night on Tuesday.  Regionals start Saturday at Taft in Chicago. 

Girls Bowling – improving and having fun

Varsity Wrestling – 1-4 Geneva, Friday the 13th home meet all levels

JV Wrestling – 5-2

Boys Varsity Swimming & Diving  1 – 4, Varsity hosted double practices during Winter Break. All levels enjoyed a team breakfast on the 31st. The GBN diver placed 6 out 13 at the New Trier Diving Invite.

Boys Freshman Swimming – won every event except one (placed 2nd) at the St. Viator Frosh Invite.
