Booster Club Meeting Minutes – April 17, 2017
Susan Fraser opened the meeting at 7:05pm.

President's Report – The GBN summer book sale is being replaced by an online sale, which will impact our membership drive. Susan would like to create committees for booster club positions, versus solo positions. If you know anyone who would like to volunteer, please contact Susan. Senior nights are coming up soon, balloons and streamers stocked in concessions, along with a helium tank. The Senior Sports Banquet is June 1, 6pm at Allgauer’s. The committee chair, Andy Navarro, is looking for volunteers.
Treasurer’s Report- received winter concession funds which will be deposited. Last wish list payment needs to be made. Up $12,000 compared to last year.
Membership Report – Next year premium membership gift will most likely be a flag. Looking into costs.
SpartanWear Report – Selling at Spring Fest, Friday, May 19. School will send out blast. There will be several $5 clearance items and will be the last sale until August.
Rep Liaison – Russell has the three banners for senior night, but has not been contacted for future senior nights. Discussed the awarding of 6 $500 scholarships. Two per season, one girl, one boy. Scholarships are awarded at the Senior Sports Banquet.
Yard Sign Report – Brian will start painting soon. 183 signs and 383 stakes ordered so far this year.
Concessions – outdoor concession stand water turned on. Baseball up and running and very busy this weekend.
Booster Bash $27,720 profit this year
Boys Varsity Volleyball – 3-0-0 3rd out of 24 in tournament. Brother Rice this weekend. Pasta parties coming up.
Boys JV Volleyball – 1st in the Spartan Invite.
Boys Freshman Volleyball – doing well
Boys Varsity Tennis – two of the top players in the state. 2-0 in matches 2-0 in tournaments. Upcoming match at Highland Park this Thursday.
Boys Gymnastics – 2-2 in duals, placed 9th out 13 at Wheaton Invite.
Boys JV Gymnastics - 4-1
Boys Freshman Gymnastics - 3-2
Girls Varsity Soccer - 4-2-3 battling some injuries, conference starts this week
Girls JV Soccer – 2-0-1 The team has had a few rainouts, but has had one pasta party and another scheduled. More team bonding is scheduled.
Girls Freshman Soccer - 4-3
Boys Track – Bartlett Invitational – Varsity took 3rd place, highlights were 1st place finishes in the 4x800 and 4x400 relays. Frosh/Soph took 6th place out of 14 teams
Deerfield Invitational – Varsity took 7th overall, Frosh/Soph took 2nd out of 8 teams
Athletes at all levels are enjoying a nice season, building team comeradery and building towards the Conference meet.
Girls Track – Senior night last Thursday, Titan Invite this weekend. Conference meet coming up first week in May.
Boys Varsity Waterpolo – varsity 1-7, close games
Boys JV Waterpolo – 7-2
Boys Baseball – Varsity 6-7, conference starting soon. The varsity team went to Nashville for a tournament over spring break, boys and families had a great time. Freshman boys baseball doing well.
Girls Varsity Badminton – Duals 5-2, won the Wheeling Invite.
Girls JV Badmitton - 3-4
Girls Water Polo – Varsity 4-7, JV 6-5. Three home matches this weekend, hosting matches 9am-1:30pm this Saturday, will run concessions. Senior night next week, pasta party today.
Girls Varsity Lacrosse – 4-3, two games rained out, pizza party on Monday, April 24
Girls Frosh Lacrosse – 3-1-1, 2 games have been cancelled due to weather. The team has had two pasta parties so far and they have been great!
Boys Varsity Lacrosse – 3-3, in conference
Boys JV Lacrosse – 6-0, close buzzer beater last week
Boys Freshman Lacrosse - 3-3
Girls Varsity Softball - 2-7
Girls JV Softball - 2-2
Athletic Director's Report –
GBN is hosting the girls and boys water polo sectionals, softball regionals, girls soccer sectional and will host one of the girls lacrosse playoff games on May 17.
Due to the cancellation of book sale, parents can register on Info Snap in May, but cannot pay fees until July 15. Booster Club membership will be an option on the fee schedule, but still worried about losing the personal contact to recruit members.
This Saturday and Sunday, Under Armour asked us to host the top 100 football prospects in the country here. Top 150 upperclassmen, also junior high. ESPN will be here. 9am-4pm
A GBN Hall of Fame program has been developed, press release will be coming out with the criteria. Coaches, athletes and contributors will be considered. The program will start next year. A committee will be formed and inaugural class named at the Pride Ceremony. I inductees will be announced every two years.
Spring Sports night is Tuesday, May 30.
