Booster Club Meeting Minutes – October 10, 2016

Susan Fraser opened the meeting at 7 pm.

President's Report

Thanks to the reps, everything going smoothly.  The Fall Sports Award assembly is Wednesday,  November 9 at 6:30 pm.  The Winter Sports Jamboree is Saturday November 12 at 9am.

Treasurer’s Report – Financial statements were distributed. The check has not been received from the Book Sale, we are still reconciling payments made at Book Sale with the Booster Club membership records.  Anna asked people running concessions to bring Anna excess cash. Contact Anna to set a time to bring the cash to the Northbrook Public Library (Anna’s workplace).  SpartanWear doing well, team donations are still being received. Starting this month, Anna will send checks out once a month after the monthly check register is approved at the Booster Club meeting.

Secretary Report – No report

Membership Report –  Russell sent rosters with members highlighted to the fall reps.  Tere still delivering membership kits.  Will also be at the first few home basketball games. 

SpartanWear Report– Football playoff t-shirts were ordered, will be for sale in the school and at the football game on Friday, October 14.

Yard Sign Report –  Sign/stakes are being produced and everyone should have an opportunity to pick up their orders by this weekend and early next week.

Concessions –  Suzanne Kahn is still selling in the stands and had sales of $192 at the October 7 football game!

Booster Bash – Suzanne held a meeting with the committee last week to brainstorm live auction items.  They have great ideas and have already secured one.  Fall team reps were sent reminders that baskets are due October 31.

Team Reports

Freshman football- 5-2, one more team dinner.  Strong end to the season.

Sophomore football – 4-2-1  Won Conference game vs Deerfield

JV Football  -  4-0, game this Saturday 9:30 am at Vernon Hills

Varsity Football – 7-0, beat Deerfield 31-14.  They play Vernon Hills Friday, October 14 which is Senior Night.  Guaranteed playoff spot. Team was nominated for High School Lites, a CSN contest, winner determined through Twitter vote.  Matt Pawlowski, a defensive end was nominated as the Chicago Tribune Northshore Athlete of the Month.   Voting started, closes Thursday. Friday’s game is a “black out”, as determined by the students.

Freshman Girls Tennis – season is over, 8-4 season record.  GBN invite finished second behind New Trier. 

JV Girls Tennis – Placed second in Conference.  The third doubles team finished in first place at the Conference Tournament. 

Varsity Girls Tennis – Power 8 invite placed second.  Prospect Invite placed 5th.  CSL Conference tied HP for the championship.  Sectionals this week at GBS and GBN. 

Boys/Girls Cross Country – Hosting the Conference meet Saturday, October 15, approximately 1200 runners.  Concessions will be open and we are selling Conference t-shirts at the meet. Varsity Boys 2W-3L, Varsity Girls 3W-2L, F/S Boys 2W-5L, F/S Girls 4W-1L.  Varsity boys will typically finish in the top half, Varsity girls in the top third of invites.

Girls Freshman B Volleyball – 9-3 Undefeated in the Conference.  Girls participated in a service project for Feed My Starving Children. Conference tournament at GBS this weekend.

Freshman Volleyball A – 10-2, 1st or 2nd at the Prospect Invite. 3-1 at the Grayslake Central.

JV volleyball – 11-2

Varsity Girls Volleyball – 10-6 tied for first in Conference

F/S Boys Golf – Season is over, 10-0 in dual meets, co-Conference champions.

Varsity Boys Golf – Conference – won sixth year straight, five individuals in the top five.  Regionals placed fourth, advanced five boys to sectionals, two advancing to States.

JV & Varsity Girls Swimming – 3 dual meets, Varsity 2-1, JV 1-2 Senior night is October 28.  Varsity Conference is November 5, JV Conference is November 11

Freshman B Boys Soccer – no report

Freshman A Boys Soccer – 11-3-2, five pasta parties, great team spirit and support.  Season ending New Trier tournament.

Sophomore Boys Soccer – 10-6-1, won Conference, tournament against New Trier this weekend.

JV Boys Soccer – 11-5-1, third place finish Highland Park invitational.  Senior night this Thursday, planning pizza party for end of season celebration.

Varsity Boys Soccer – 15-1-1, great season Senior night is Thursday, October 13.

Girls JV Golf – JV2 finished 4-0  JV 8-3 won Conference.  Five girls finished in the top ten.

Varsity Girls Golf – Won Glenbrook Cup for third year. Two girls advanced to Regionals, no one advanced to Sectionals.  Discussed tough regionals for the golf and tennis teams.

Athletic Director's Report

Soccer Regionals will be at Maine West October 18th.  Volleyball regionals October 25 at Evanston vs Fremd.

District discussion about drugs, GBN on the low end of drug use, but hot topic of discussion.  Homework initiative – restrictions in amount and timing.

GBN’s concussion oversight team works with Northshore Medical, had a meeting to discuss protocols.  EKG testing November 2 and 3.

Next month’s meeting will be hold on Monday, November 7 at 7pm in the Green and Gold Conference Room.
