BY-LAWS

of the

GLENBROOK HIGH SCHOOL BOOSTER CLUB


ARTICLE I – NAME

SECTION 1

The name of the club shall be the Glenbrook North Booster Club, Inc.


ARTICLE II - OBJECT

SECTION 1

The object of the club is to promote and assist the sanctioned extra-curricular and certain curricular programs of Glenbrook North High School.

It shall further be the purpose of the club to contribute to the welfare of the school by furthering closer cooperation among parents, school officials, faculty, and participating students.


ARTCILE III- MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1

  1. Every father – mother (parent) whose son or daughter is a student at Glenbrook North High School is automatically eligible to become a member of the Booster Club and upon payment of the yearly membership dues, shall become a member in good standing.

  2. Further, any person interested in the objects of the club and willing to uphold its policies and subscribe to its by-laws may become a member upon payment of dues.


ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS

SECTION 1

  1. The officers of this club shall consist of: President or Co-Presidents, President Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. *Amended August 2012

  2. Officers shall hold the office for a period of two years; President appointed by the Athletic Director. Officers appointed by the President and approved by the Athletic Director. The newly elected or re-elected officers’ terms shall begin August 1 and they shall preside at the August meeting. No officer shall succeed himself for more than one consecutive term.


SECTION II

Board of Directors with authority to transact the business of the club between meetings shall be made up of the four officers.


SECTION III

The President shall be the executive director of the club and shall preside at all meetings of the club and shall appoint all committee chairmen.


SECTION IV

The Present Elect shall assist the President and shall preside at all meetings in the absence of the President.


SECTION V

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meeting, shall conduct the correspondence and shall perform such other duties as usually pertain to such offices.


SECTION VI

  1. The Treasurer shall be the custodian of the funds of the club. He shall keep an account of all the receipts and disbursements.

  2. The President’s and the Athletic Director shall have the right to approve any expenditure up to $1,000.00. Expenditures in excess of $1,000.00 shall be approved by majority vote of the members in attendance at any regular meeting.


ARTICLE V – VANCANCIES

SECTION I

The President may appoint committee chairmen to help the officers in carrying on the functions of the club, and the President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees. Each chairman shall select his own committee.


ARTICLE VI – MEETINGS

SECTION I

Regular membership meetings will be held on the first Monday evening of every month, August through June.


SECTION II

Special meetings and board meetings will be held upon request of the President. Board meetings will be held no less frequently than once a month.


SECTION III

Nine members shall constitute a quorum at any membership meeting.


SECTION IV

Membership dues shall be paid at any time starting July 1, which is the beginning of the new club year. A member in good standing shall be any person paying his annual dues.


ARTICLE VII – RULES OF ORDER

SECTION I

Roberts’ Rubles of Order shall govern all executive board, membership, and committee meetings where not consistent by-laws of the club and where such by-laws are silent.


ARTICLE VIII – AMENDMENTS

SECTION I

These by-laws may be amended at any regular business meetings by a two-thirds vote of those voting, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at a previous membership meeting.

 

 


The GBN Booster Club is the sole fundraising group that benefits the athletic programs at GBN. We work in conjunction with the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Directors at Glenbrook North High School to accomplish our goals.

The purpose of the Booster Club is:

  • to help raise school spirit by promoting a positive atmosphere as part of our athletic events
  • to provide spirit wear celebrating our school and its symbols
  • to help lead the community by setting an example of volunteerism and involvement in school activities
  • to supplement our school's budget by providing supplies and equipment that support our school's athletic teams and our student athletes, as well as all of the GBN students using our athletic facilities
  • to help promote the positive athletic experiences that play a vital role in our children's development, and
  • to enhance the enjoyment of the GBN athletic experience for our community, our visitors and our guests. 
  • Membership - Membership in the GBN Booster Club is open not only to all families of GBN students, but to any and all other members of our community who would like to support our organization. There are three (3) levels of annual Membership starting with the SPARTAN level at $50.00, SILVER level which includes a GBN Spartan Flag at $125.00 and GOLD level which includes a Premium gift and GBN Spartan Flag at $200.00.   • GBN Spartanwear - The GBN Booster Club is proud to offer many selections of clothing and other items that are logo'd with our school name and/or Spartan symbol. Spartan Spiritwear is sold at the Fall and Winter Jamborees, every home football game and at various times throughout the school year.   • Concessions - The GBN Booster Club operates the Concession stands for most home events, for every sport at GBN. Each Concession stand is staffed exclusively by parent volunteers from the particular sport in action at the time. Please visit our Concession stands when you are watching any sporting event at GBN. We operate one of the best Concession stands in the area, including grilled hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and chicken at our football and basketball games. As one of our long time veteran Concession Chair always said: "Come for the food, stay for the game".   • Booster Bash - The GBN Booster Club has one main fundraising event every year, the Booster Bash. This year our 10th annual Booster Bash will be held on Saturday, March 3rd, 2018 at Pinstripes. The Booster Bash is a great evening and a way to socialize with other GBN parents, as well as GBN administrators, athletic directors and coaches. In addition to wonderful food, the Booster Bash also includes a live and silent auction, games, prizes and the drawing of our Super Raffle winning tickets.   • Yard Signs - Show your Spartan spirit by posting a GBN Yard Sign in front of your house. Yard Signs are not just for athletics, but for any activities and clubs at GBN.   • Senior Banquet - Each year, the GBN Booster Club organizes a dinner banquet honoring all our senior athletes. This year's Senior Banquet will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 6 PM at the Northbrook Hilton. All senior athletes and their parents are invited to attend, as well as GBN administrators, athletic directors, head coaches and a Guest Speaker.
