BY-LAWS
of the
GLENBROOK NORTH HIGH SCHOOL (GBN) BOOSTER CLUB

ARTICLE I: NAME

SECTION 1

The name of the club shall be the Glenbrook North Booster Club, Inc.

ARTICLE II: OBJECT

SECTION 1

The object of the club is to promote and assist the sanctioned extra-curricular and certain curricular programs of Glenbrook North High School.

It shall further be the purpose of the club to contribute to the welfare of the school by furthering closer cooperation among parents, school officials, faculty, and participating students.

ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP

SECTION 1

Every father/mother (parent) whose son or daughter is a student at Glenbrook North High School is automatically eligible to become a member of the GBN Booster Club and upon payment of the yearly membership dues, shall become a member in good standing.

Further, any person interested in the objects of the club and willing to uphold its policies and subscribe to its by-laws may become a member upon payment of dues.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

SECTION 1

The Officers of this club shall consist of: President (or Co-Presidents), President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer.

Officers shall hold the office for a period of two years; President appointed by the Athletic Director; Officers appointed by the President and approved by the Athletic Director. The newly elected or re-elected Officers’ terms shall begin August 1 and they shall preside at the August meeting. No Officer shall succeed him/herself for more than one consecutive term.

SECTION 2

The Board of Directors with authority to transact the business of the club between meetings shall be made up of the four Officers.

SECTION 3

The President shall be the executive director of the club and shall preside at all meetings of the club and shall appoint all Committee Chairmen.

SECTION 4

The Present-Elect shall assist the President and shall preside at all meetings in the absence of the President.

SECTION 5

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the meeting, shall conduct the correspondence, and shall perform such other duties as usually pertain to such officers.

SECTION 6

The Treasurer shall be the custodian of the funds of the club, and shall keep an account of all the receipts and disbursements.

The President and the Athletic Director shall have the right to approve any expenditure up to $1,000.00. Expenditures in excess of $1,000.00 shall be approved by majority vote of the members in attendance at any regular meeting.

ARTICLE V: VACANCIES

SECTION 1

The President may appoint Committee Chairmen to help the Officers in carrying on the functions of the club, and the President shall be an ex-officio member of all committees. Each Chairman shall select his own Committee.

ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS

SECTION 1

Regular membership meetings will be held on the first Monday evening of every month, August through June.

SECTION 2

Special meetings and board meetings will be held upon request of the President. Board meetings will be held no less frequently than once a month.

SECTION 3

Nine members shall constitute a quorum at any membership meeting.

SECTION 4

Membership dues shall be paid at any time starting July 1, which is the beginning of the new club year. A member in good standing shall be any person paying his annual dues.

ARTICLE VII: RULES OF ORDER

SECTION 1

Robert’s Rules of Order shall govern all executive board, membership, and committee meetings where not consistent by-laws of the club and where such by-laws are silent.

ARTICLE VIII: AMENDMENTS

SECTION 1

These by-laws may be amended at any regular business meetings by a two-thirds vote of those voting, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing at a previous membership meeting.
