President’s Report: (Russell)

Discussed the Team Rep file. Please make sure you read the entire zip drive file. Any questions please feel free to ask. If you are asked what the Booster Club donation is for can say helps to pay for all squad parties or supports the coach’s attendance at senior banquet. Reminder - we have accounts with Jets and Mario’s Pizza - if you use someone else it comes from your pocket and must submit a receipt to Marty for reimbursement. Mario’s and Jet’s will work within your budget and not charge delivery. There is a form in your folder explaining how the all squad parties work.

Party Box reminder - please give Toby 48 hour notice if you need it. Email or call her at 847-226-2901. Please bring back the utensils cleaned. Toby doesn’t order the pizza’s for you - that is varsity reps job.

Concession stand: if you are working please remember NO kids allowed in stand. Kudos to football varsity reps for sending out weekly of reminders to those who are working. All teams should be doing this. Send Jamie Werhane an email if we are running low on anything. Make sure you restock before you close at end of shift.

Treasurer’s Report: (Marty)

Handed out the August 31, 2015 financial statements. The cash position is stronger than 2014.  We have $126k compared to $67k.  Once we pay $50k towards the turf commitment we will be in a similar position to previous years. The month of August is quite inconsistent from year to year based on timing of when funds are deposited. Spartanwear is off to a great start.  In addition, it looks like the overall spend this year will be down boosting the gross profit contribution Membership is behind compared to last year, but we really need to wait until September is complete to determine where we stand.

Please remind all of the team reps to collect the $5 per player and to get me the funds ASAP.  Please fill out the deposit form that is on the website and indicate the team, gender and level. Please remind the team reps that the booster club reimburses up to $7 per player for pizza party.  The website has a reimbursement form for any out of pocket expenses for the party.  Please attach all receipts as I cannot reimburse without receipts and the reimbursement form. Not much else to report as it is very early in the process.

Secretary’s Report: (Lauri)

Please sign the attendance sheet before you leave. It is very helpful if you can email in your report before each meeting.  There will be blank ones available for anyone who needs one at every meeting. Handed out copy of August minutes and a 2015-2016 Booster Club Board list with emails. Minutes will be posted on our website once approved.

Membership: (Anna)

Book sale went very well. Membership before was at 248 - After 740 members. We are hoping reps can help with families on your team (discreetly) who have not joined. Was requested that Anna compose an email that Reps can send to their families asking to support and join the Booster Club - will mention the Decal and how we support all 29 sports at GBN.

Sports Reports:

Varsity: 2-0, beat Wheeling 40-34, then beat Grant 30-0 in Fox Lake in an emotional game for Grant immediately following the death of a Fox Lake police officer. This Friday we play Evanston. Have a team dinner at Smith’s house for their famous pulled pork. 41 of 48 players are Booster Club members. Have collected from 80% of the team for the Booster donation.

Sophomore: 2-0, notable games: vs. Wheeling 47-7, Grant 40 – 7. Play Evanston 9/11, Waukegan 9/19, Highland Park 9/25.

Freshman:  2-0, Offense and Defense playing very well. Freshman team broke GBN Freshman Record for the most extra points (field goals) in a game. That was during home game vs. Wheeling. Next game is 9/12 vs. Evanston, 2 team parties are planned in next 4 weeks. As of 9/5: 29/34 families have donated to Booster Club.  Also as of 9/7: 28 of 34 players are Booster members.

Varsity: 4-2-1

JV:  4 – 1, Great season so far with convincing wins until unfortunate loss last night to New Trier due to referee who admitted his bad call which resulted in the reversal of a GBN goal!  The team was noticeably disappointed, but cheered each other on to get a quick goal!  Another questionable call resulted in a PK.  Game today at Maine South, Friday Pasta Party, Game Saturday vs. GBS

Sophomore: 3-1, 23 players, 20 have paid; have 5 more pasta parties coming up.

Freshman A: 2-3-3

Freshman B: 1-3-3

Cross Country:

All levels: Lost to GBS in a dual meet at all levels.

Overall nice start for both teams. Good participation turnout, with many returning varsity runners and some new talented freshmen.  Upcoming:  Lake Park Invitational – Sat. 09/12

Golf (girls)

Varsity: 4-2 Varsity finished fourth at regional’s and just missed qualifying for sectionals as a team. 2 girls (Hong and Vickery) advanced to sectionals - unfortunately they did not qualify for state.

JV:  7 – 1, 3 and 1 in conference to date.  Losing only to New Trier thus far.  In a couple of instances, the 5 and 6th players of that day have really logged great scores to carry the team.

GREAT BUNCH of girls.  Everyone is contributing and they are having fun together.

In the GBS invite of six teams in late August, GBN won and all 4 golfers placed in top 5! It should be noted that JV2 team has played 3 matches at Anetsberger.  They have won two of these matches and in the tri-match last week beat Maine South, but lost to GBS by only 6 strokes.  There have been some good rounds in the 30’s. JV plays Wednesday, 9/9 in Waukegan.
