Booster Club Meeting Minutes – May 15, 2017

Susan Fraser opened the meeting at 7:08pm

Meeting Attendees:

Anna Amen, Susan Fraser, John Fraser, Russell Rosenberg,   Jennifer Kieffer, James Williams, Tiffany Sybert, Tere Neuhausel, Kirsten Crispin, Marcy Reinfranck, Jeff Piell, John Burnside, Matt Purdy, Michael Lee

President's Report –  Next year, Susan wants to make a push for increased volunteerism. She plans to form committees for each board position.  Emails regarding the committees will be coming out soon.  Spring Sports Awards is May 30, Senior Sports Banquet is June 1.  The final Booster Club meeting of the year  is on Monday, June 5 at 5:30pm and dinner will be served.    

Treasurer’s Report- Revenue in line with last year, still collecting spring sports team collections.

Membership Report – Next year’s premium Booster Club membership gift (donations greater than $200) will be a GBN Spartan flag.  Board believes membership will be a challenge with the discontinuation of the book sale. GBN Administration is aware of our potential membership loss and will try to work with the Board.    

SpartanWear Report –  Tiffany and Eileen will be selling Spartan Wear at Spring Fest on Friday, May 19. Lots of good sale items!  Email going out to the feeder junior highs, marketing 8th grade graduation gifts.  Plan to simplify inventory choices in the future.

Yard Sign Report –  Susan thinks we have a replacement for Brian Sullivan.  Trying to set up a few hours on Saturdays for volunteers to paint the signs. Discussed involving student groups in the painting.

Concessions –  Concessions going well, passed a surprise inspection by the Village. 

Team Reports

Boys Varsity Volleyball - undefeated regular match play. Ranked 4th in the state, 30th in the nation.  Regionals start next Tuesday at Niles West.  Sectionals will be at New Trier. 

Boys JV Volleyball – 10-2 in regular matches.  New Trier Invite this weekend.

Boys Freshman Volleyball – Freshman won tournament.

Boys Varsity Tennis –.  10-0, won all six weekend tournaments, won conference first time since 2008, Sectionals this week, followed by States. 

Boys Frosh/Soph Tennis – Conference Champions

Boys Gymnastics – 2-4, 9th at Conference and Sectionals, one gymnast qualified for States.

Girls Varsity Soccer - 11-5-3, Conference Champions, GBN hosting Sectionals

Girls JV Soccer – 10-1-1 Conference Champions

Girls Freshman Soccer – 9-3-1

Boys Track – Placed 5th in the Spartan Relay, 5 out of 12 in the GBS Invitiational,  Frosh/Soph 2 out of 11.  Varsity 4th in conference, Frosh/Soph won Conference.  Sectional this Thursday at Niles West, hoping for a few relay and individual state qualifiers.

Girls Track – 5th in Conference, one runner qualified for State in the 100 and 200.

Boys Varsity Waterpolo – 6-14, lost in first round of Sectionals.

Boys JV Waterpolo – 9-4

Varsity Baseball – number 12 in seeding for Sectionals, hosting a play in game versus Round Lake on Monday.

Sophomore Baseball -  11-15

Freshman B 8-8, Freshman - 17-7

Girls Varsity Badminton –  6-4 in duals, Sectional Champs, went to States, 10th place overall!

Girls Water Polo – JV 13-6, third place in Conference tournament.  Varsity 12-11-1, exciting game versus Loyola, but lost 10-15, came back from 3-10.  Team made huge improvements over the season. 

Girls Varsity Lacrosse – 7-10 Senior night was held in the cafeteria due to rain, but it was a great success! Lost in tonight’s first round playoff game. 

Girls Frosh Lacrosse – 10-4

Boys Varsity Lacrosse – 7-10

Boys JV Lacrosse – 12-3

Boys Freshman Lacrosse -  8-8

Girls Varsity Softball -  8-10, huge win in a 16 inning game versus Vernon Hills. 

Girls JV Softball – 9-5

Frosh/soph 1-8


Athletic Director's Report

Hosted the Under Armour Football Camp, was very successful. Discussed the upcoming playoffs and Sectionals, Booster Club will send out email to members.  Wish list was approved for next year, approximately $34,000 of donations.  List is prepared by the Atheltic Directors based on requests submitted by the coaches.
