Meeting MINUTES for April 6, 2015

Reminders for reps – pizza parties, yard signs, concession volunteers, collecting

monies for Booster club and coach gifts. Please turn in your team’s Booster donations to Marty by the end of your season. Any questions please feel free to ask.



Spring Sports Awards Night – Tuesday, June 2nd at 6:30 pm.

Senior Athletic Banquet at Northbrook Hilton - Thursday, Thursday, June 4th, 2015

Final Booster Club Meeting – Monday, June 8th, 5:30 pm dinner meeting



Secretary’s report (Lauri): Please sign the attendance sheet before you leave; you only need to add your email if this is your first meeting this school year. Thank you to those who emailed in your reports. It is very helpful. There are blank ones available for anyone who still needs one. Please hand in your report before you leave. Minutes from the March meeting are also available and will be posted on our website after today's meeting.

Treasurer’s Report: all good, still waiting on final numbers from Bash.

Membership report: 2 new members. We are at 786. Reminder – all team reps need to be Booster Club members.

Concessions Report: no report

Spartanwear report: sale this Thursday for Friday’s Pride Assembly

Yard Signs Report: (Brian) all good, weather improving. Been very busy. 56 orders. Around $9,000 gross. Expecting more orders from the lower teams any day. 31 signs pending.

Bash: (Robin) Contract in motion for next year. March 5th. Discussing sound issues. Mr. Catalano has offered us to use the GBN sound system, he will work with Robin.



Sports reports:

Girls Badminton:

Varsity: 2 and 2

JV:3 loss, 1 tie

Freshman: 2 wins, 2 losses – beat Maine west and Maine South, As of last week collected from 1/3 of team


Boys Baseball

Varsity: 7 wins, 1 loss. Boys had a very successful Spring Break trip. We played all games in beautiful weather in Orlando at Disney ESPN Wide World of Sports. All team members got a chance to play and contribute. In Florida playing only Varsity teams: JV record 3 – 2, Varsity went 5 – 0.

JV: 5 wins, 2 losses.

Sophomore: 1 win, 4 losses. Played during spring break.

Freshman A: 4 wins, 2 losses

Freshman B: 1 win, 4 losses


Boys Gymnastics

Varsity: 3 wins, 1 loss (loss was to GBS by .8)


Boys Lacrosse

Varsity: 4 wins, 2 losses.

Lost by 1 to a top ranked lake Forest team, went 3 and 0 over spring break to regionally ranked PA teams. Lost to Nationally ranked Culver Prep. Play Libertyville tonight away. Senior night is 4/16. Hosting undefeated Christian Brothers from TN 4/18/15.


Girls Lacrosse

Varsity: 0 wins, 3 losses. 1 game rescheduled due to weather.


Girls Soccer

Varsity: 2 wins, 1 loss. Play lake forest and GBS this week. On Saturday GBN/GBN charity event at GBN. BBQ and fundraiser for a GBS player Yasmine who has Cancer.

JV: 2 and 0


Boy’s Tennis - starts today


Boy’s Indoor Track

Varsity: Won conference

Frosh/Soph won conference as well. First time in over 10 years.

Girls’ Indoor Track

Varsity: 3rd in conference

Indoor track season finishes this Saturday with a pot luck breakfast at the school for entire team – 93 kids


Boy’s Volleyball

Varsity: 4 wins, 6 losses

JV and Freshman have first games today



Boy’s Water Polo

Varsity: 10 wins, 4 losses, off to a good start. Solid balance this season.

JV: 5 wins, 5 losses, Solid performance, JV numbers remain high. More JV1 and JV2 games

are scheduled.


Girl’s Water Polo

Varsity: 6 wins, 1 loss Win against New Trier when they were ranked 8th! Win against Mundelein when they were ranked 11th. Currently GBN is ranked 12th in the State!! Upcoming: Tuesday and Thursday then Hersey Invite on Saturday.



Athletic Director’s report: (John Catalano)

New Principal: Dr Finan (current principal of curriculum Kris Franson will take over his position next year- looking to hire a new Associate Principal of curriculum)

We are hosting both boys and girls Water Polo Sectionals – May 13 – 16th

Waukegan is leaving our conference 2016-2017. We are in the process of accepting application from schools looking to come into the CSL. It is a process and would like to have a school in place by the end of the school year – especially since we are losing 4 principals.




Next month’s meeting will be held on Monday, May 11th, in the Green and Gold Room in the E.J. Duffy Student Center.
